POVILL China team, coordinated by CHEI, successfully organized regional meetings between Cambodian, Chinese and Laos health policy-makers and researchers from Oct. 23-26, 2007.
On Oct. 23, in big conference room of CHEI, Mr. Liu Xinmin, Director-general of the Department of Health Policy and Legislation, MoH of China introduced to Cambodian and Laos officials and researchers about the development of China health system and pro-poor policy development and implementation in the country. Then Prof. Zhang Zhenzhong, Director-general of CHEI, presented on pro-poor research and translation of policy recommendations to policies in China. Finally, Cambodian and Laos visitors had heated discussions over pro-poor health research and policy-making.
During 24-26 Oct., Cambodian and Laos delegations conducted field visit in Zhongxiang County of Hubei Province (at central part of China), to have a first-hand experience of design and implementation of the New Cooperative Medical Scheme (NCMS) and Medical Assistance Scheme (MA) in the local area.
At the end of the visit, Cambodian and Laos delegations said that they have gained a lot from this visit and expressed their hope of having more regional communication activities like this kind.
