Minister of Health Mr Chen Zhu had a meeting with CEO of UK National Institute for Clinical Excellence (abbr. NICE)—Mr Andrew Dillon, Director General of International Cooperation Department—Ms Kalipso Chalkidou and professor from University of Princeton—Ms Tsung-Mei Cheng in 15th Oct 2009. Minister Chen introduced the current situation of China health reform and oncoming challenge need to face at the beginning of the meeting, and he also expressed his great interest on the concept and practices of NICE. He thought that China should absorb the experience of NICE positively. After that, Andrew introduced the achievement and operation mechanism in the field of Quality Control and Evaluation done by NICE in detail, and he also gave his comments with regards of some issues. Otherwise, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation—Mr Minghui Ren、Director of the Department of Medical Service Administration—Mr Zongjiu Zhang、Deputy Director General of the Department of Medical Administration—Mr Minggang Zhao、Director of center for project supervision and management(CPSM)—Mr Dezhi Yu and Director general of China Health Economics Institute(CHEI)—Mr Zhengzhong Zhang also participated in the meeting.  

       After the meeting, the representatives of CHEI、NICE and CPSM signed the 《Memorandum of Understanding for the collaboration of Developing the Evaluation of Clinical Technology and Intervention Research in the World Bank /DFID China Rural Health Project》with the witness of Minister Mr Chen. He congratulated the success of document signing among these three institutes, at the same time, he also raised his further expectations.
